Maria Carmen Hernandez, 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, March 6,2006.  Born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan and Alexandra Hernandez.  She was the wife of the late Florentine Hernandez.

A homemaker, she enjoyed soap operas and dancing.

She will be sadly by a son, Juan A. husband of Maria E Hernandez of Lancaster; four sons and four daughters of New York and Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Barbara T. wife of Minister Derrick Hammond and their daughters, Shan'e, Thalia, Derisha, and Bryanna all of Lancaster; Brenda Lee Gonzalez of Brooklyn, NY; Luis husband of Cely Hernandez and family of Lancaster; Maria Hernandez companion of Philip Aponte of Columbia; Angel Mendez of Lancaster; Lourdes Hernandez and family of Reading; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and three sisters in Puerto Rico.  Two children and a brother preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday at 11AM.  Interment in Mellinger's Mennonite Cemetery.  Friends may attend Maria's viewing at her home, 110 Locust St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Friends may also attend the viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service.
