Margaret "Peggy" R. Kirchner, 81, of Homestead Village, formerly of President Ave., passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2016 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Lancaster, on Cabbage Hill, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Otto) Welsh. She was the wife of the late James J. Kirchner, Sr., who died December 11, 2004. Margaret was a 1953 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Raising a family was her main focus; she also enjoyed assisting her husband with the clerical responsibilities at his law practice in Lancaster. Margaret was an avid reader, seamstress and bridge player. She enjoyed throwing monthly card parties and meeting her friends for their Friday "Lunch and Cards". She loved traveling and attending her children and grandchildren's sports activities. She also loved spending time with family at the Jersey Shore. Margaret was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, but recently attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She is survived by her four children; Ann M. Abel, wife of Tony R., of Wrightsville, James J. Kirchner, Jr., husband of Tina, of Lancaster, John M. Kirchner, husband of Tracy E., of Elizabethtown, Stephen T. Kirchner, husband of L. Susanne "Susie", of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, Jordan, Jenna, wife of Chad, Laura, Gregory, Joshua, husband of Alexis, Alex, Erica, and Andrew, a brother, Robert O. Welsh, husband of Mary Anne, of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry "Jack" Welsh. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Friday, November 25 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601 with The Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM-11AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. Memorial contributions in Margaret's memory may be made to Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to St. Leo the Great Catholic School.
