Margaret M. "Presh" Weber, 75, of Lancaster, unexpectedly passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born in Lancaster, on August 25, 1933 to the late Joseph F. Ulrich and Margaret A. (O'Donnell) Ulrich.
Presh was the wife of the late Albert C. Weber, Jr. who passed away in 1980. Presh was devoted to her Catholic faith and her family. She was born and raised on Cabbage Hill and attended St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School. She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1953. Presh and Al and their nine children were devoted members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Presh was employed at Bell Telephone in Lancaster as a Switchboard Operator. She was dedicated to the care of her husband, children, and home. Presh served the St. Joseph Catholic Church community as a Eucharistic Minister, regularly visiting the ill and elderly church members, was on the St. Joseph Mercy Committee, helped to establish St. Joseph's Perpetual Adoration, was a member of St. Joseph's Womens' Club, and was an active volunteer for Lancaster Catholic High School Annual Fund. As a member of the Social Justice Committee, Presh was an active volunteer for the Friday evening community meal at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Presh was also active in the USO, the International Federation of Catholic Alumni and the Golden Hills Club. Previously, Presh served as a Cub Scout den mother, volunteered for the Blind Association of Lancaster County and was a room mother for all nine of her children at St. Joseph's School. She was famous for her chocolate cakes. Presh was a member of the Krewe of Cabbage Hill where she was the Queen of Mardi Gras of 2004.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, gardening, traveling, and looked forward to her weekly Breakfast Club.
Surviving are nine children; daughter Beth wife of Scott Neidert, Sr. of Lancaster, daughter Kathy wife of Michael John of Woodbridge, VA, daughter Peg wife of Tim McCorry of Downingtown, son Thomas M. Weber husband of Mary Anne of Lancaster, son Jim Weber husband of Jennifer of Landisville, son John Weber husband of Kelly of Macungie, PA, son Paul Weber husband of Yvette of York, daughter Rose wife of Todd Phillips of East Earl, daughter Helen Weber of Lancaster. Presh was blessed with 19 grandchildren; Scott Jr., Stephanie, Allison, Laura, Kevin, Karl, Luke, Ann Margaret, Hope, Michael, Carolyn, Hannah, Maggie, Jonathan, Christopher, Abbie, Mitchell, Nathan, and Deanna. Presh is also survived by her brother Joseph Ulrich of Wayne, PA and her sister Dolores McNee of Bausman.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with Rev. Joseph Hilbert and Rev. Norman Hohenwarter as Celebrants. Friends may call at the church from 10-11AM. Final farewell and commendation will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Presh's memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o St. Joseph Catholic Church to support community outreach for the needy.
