June 15, 1958 – September 19, 2022
Margaret M. Hawk, 64, passed away at her Lancaster residence on Monday, September 19, 2022. She shared 30 years of marriage with her husband, Elvin H. Hawk before he died in 2017.
Born in Lancaster, Margie was the daughter of the late Guy V. Kingree, Jr., and Margaret (Hirsch) Kingree. She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1977 and then from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 1979.
Margie worked as a baker in food service at Millersville University. She had been a Brownie Leader, and she enjoyed doing needlework and cross stitch. An avid reader, Margie's favorite authors were John Benedict and Danielle Steel. Margie had a heart of gold. She volunteered for the Special Olympics in bowling, and she had been a wonderful caregiver for her brother who is special needs. Family meant everything to her.
A parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Margie was a Eucharistic minister and a homebound minister, she served on Parish Council, was a Sunday school teacher and RCIA facilitator, and she volunteered with the bake sale after mass.
Surviving Margie are her daughters, Melanie Ann Hawk, and Rachel Marie Hawk, fiancée of Kyle Houston and their daughter, Charli Houston all of Lancaster; her siblings, Guy V. Kingree of Lancaster, Patrick S. Kingree, husband of Debra of Lititz, Suzanne, wife of Gordon Fritz of Leola, and Michael J. Kingree of Lancaster; and several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A visitation will take place from 10 to 11 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with The Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel as Celebrant, on Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. Final Commendation and Farewell in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
