Margaret E. Grannas, 82, of St. Anne's Retirement Community died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at her residence.

She was a teacher for the Los Angeles School District, Big Run High School, Edward Hand Jr. High School and McCaskey High School.

She was a member of Catholic Daughters, American Assoc. of University Woman, PA Retired School Teachers Assoc., PA Area Retired State Employees and St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Born in Los Angeles she was the daughter of the late George and Cecilia Cullen Ala.  She was married to Harold Grannas for 60 years.

Surviving besides her husband is a son, John T. Grannas of Huntingdon; granddaughter, Kristin Grannas of Lansing, Michigan; sister, Mary Ellen Kasal of Trazana, CA; and a brother, Frank Ala of Whitter, CA.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Grannas Geus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  Friends may call at St. Anne's Retirement Community from 10:00 a.m until time of service.  Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
