Obituary

Marcia M. Utley, 78, of Lancaster, entered into eternal peace unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital with her family by her side. Marcia was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Charles P., Sr. and Anna (Campbell) Graver.

She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1957 an attended the Lancaster School of Business. She was employed over her life at The Kiddie Shoppe and Sears as a window dresser. She retired in 2008 from Lancaster General Hospital after 36 years of loyal employment, and made many friends along the way.

A very devout Catholic, Marcia was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. She was married at St. Mary's Catholic Church where both of her children were baptized. Marcia enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid reader, she enjoyed sitting on her porch, gardening, her beloved cats Freckles and Zelda and loved traveling with friends. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren.

After retirement, she volunteered at St. Anne's Catholic Church for the Brown Bag Lunch program, the Lancaster Library book sales and could always be found working the polls in her district on election days. Over her life, Marcia was a caregiver to many, including her own husband who died of cancer in 1965. She cared for her parents, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Marcia was predeceased by her husband, M. Thomas Utley, in 1965, leaving her at a young age a widow and a single mother of two devoted daughters, Sherry A. Wolfe, companion of Sidney Firestone of Cornwall and Donna L., wife of Charles T. Shea, III of Wrightsville. Marcia leaves her loving memories and caring heart to be cherished by her loving sister, Shirley A. Graver, Maytown; adoring grandchildren: Michael T. Wolfe, Lancaster, Shaun T. Shea, husband of Julie, Columbia, Douglas E. Wolfe, Philadelphia, Linda C. Wolfe, Philadelphia and Shannon M. Shea, Lancaster; great-grandson Brady T. Shea and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Marcia was also predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Schmitt, Charles P. Graver, Jr., Dolores Cain, Donald Graver and Bernard Q. Graver.
