Obituary

Marcia "Marcie" Ann Parker, 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 12th at Legends of Lititz, surrounded by family. Born on May 27, 1934, in her parents' home on Hazel Street in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Mary Katherine & Chester Arthur Somerfield. She was preceded in death by her beloved Ron, who she was married to for 70 years when he passed in January of this year.

Marcia left school in the 10th grade to go work at Lancaster Leaf, where she rolled cigars and had to be bonded to do so. She was also a USO hostess and that is when she met Ron. Theirs was a true May – December romance, having married on December 12, 1953. Shortly after marrying, she left her job at Lancaster Leaf and relocated to Washington, DC, to be with Ron while he served out his remaining time in the Navy. While there, she cleaned apartments to earn money.

Upon returning to Lancaster, she had a few jobs but eventually returned to cleaning. She cleaned houses for several families in Lititz, ultimately retiring at 83 years of age! Her true passion in life were her daughters, their husbands, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She'd set aside extra time each night before bed to pray for each of us and all of those who touched her life. Her connection with the Lord was something she was always passionate about, and it warms our hearts knowing she is now with the Lord and reunited with Ron.

Marcia is survived by her daughters, Robin Bucher & Leslie (David) Buckwalter; grandchildren, Brooke Bucher, Ashley (James) Luckenbaugh, Zachary (Stephanie) Buckwalter, Carley (Michael) Ciccarone, & MacKenzie Buckwalter, fiancé of Ryan Boyer & great-grandchildren, Cooper, Ava, Brooks, Natalie, Lane, Beau & Lucille. She is also survived by a brother, Harry Somerfield.

In addition to her husband, Ron, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and son-in-law, Dean Bucher.

Our family would like to thank Legends of Lititz & Grane Hospice for the care they provided Marcia over the last few years.

Services will be private and in lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill ByPass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
