Born: June 8, 1946, Wilmington, Delaware Promoted to Glory: December 31, 2023, Lititz, PA

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life of unwavering service, we announce the promotion to glory of Major Betty Anderson. Betty was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on June 8, 1946, and peacefully joined her heavenly Father on December 31, 2023, in Lititz, PA.

A Journey of Devotion: Introduced to The Salvation Army as a teenager, Major Betty Anderson's journey of faith and service began, setting the stage for a life dedicated to others. Answering the call to full-time ministry, she graduated as part of the "Witnesses to the Faith" session, where she met the love of her life, Sidney Anderson, and together, they embarked on a journey of service throughout the Eastern Territory.

A Tower of Energy and Compassion: Betty's spirit was an unyielding force, always brimming with energy and a deep desire to aid those in need. From providing pastoral care to young hearts at the corps to assisting at the toy shop and chauffeuring individuals to the airport, Betty's commitment to service knew no bounds.

A Scandinavian at Heart: Adopted into the Scandinavian community, Betty emerged as a pivotal leader within The Salvation Army's Scandinavian community. Betty consistently contributed to the annual Scandinavian Congress, where she presented the rich history through Maypoles to picture displays. The cultural celebration always culminated with Betty's humorous and heartfelt musical that showcased former saints and their journey with the Lord.

A Global Impact: Always with a Salvation Army salute, Betty became the head of the Missing Persons department for The Salvation Army. Her dedication and relentless effort resulted in the joyful reunions of dozens of separated loved ones both in the United States and around the world.

A Cherished Family Woman:

Betty wasn't just a devoted officer; she was a cherished wife to Sidney, a loving mother to David and James, mother in-law to Rebecca, a beloved Bestamor to Caleb, Abigail, and Benjamin, and a cherished sister to Margie, Helen, Diane, and Albert, and a daughter to Sarah and Albert.
