Madalyn Heiniger Hofferth (age 94) passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 31 at Brethren Village, Lancaster, PA. She graduated from Millersville University and was an active participant in church and community organizations. With her husband she traveled widely and was especially affected by her experiences in Africa. Devoted to her family, she was well-known for her hobbies of gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband Burt Frederick and her 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by five children (Sandra Hofferth of Columbia, MD, Susan Moberg of Lancaster, B. Frederick Hofferth of Lancaster, Sally Hellerick of Sarasota, FL, and Stephanie Miles of Atlanta, GA), four grandchildren (Margaret Haberman of Sioux Falls, SD, Emily Norman of Lancaster, Victoria Hellerick of Doylestown, and Andrew Hellerick of New York City) and 2 great grandchildren (Jordan and Isaac Haberman), and many nieces and nephews. Private interment St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Neffsville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Africa Inland Mission, PO Box 3611 Peachtree City, GA 30269-7611 would be appreciated.
