Lydia A. Madara, 70, of Hopeland, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Raymond P. Madara, Jr., with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Walter P. Solick and the late Winifred May Witwer Solick.

Lydia was a Registered Nurse and was employed by the Reading Hospital for 30 years until 2003. She then worked as a hospice nurse until her retirement.

Outside of work, she enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Janelle, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Zachary; her granddaughters, Gracie and Lily; and her beloved dogs, Charlie and Rocky.

Funeral services will be held privately for Lydia's family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lydia to Pennsylvania SPCA – Lancaster Center.
