Luz Maria Montanez, 72, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness, on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, on September 27, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Juana Burgos and the late Miguel Diaz. She was the loving wife of Victor Montanez, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Luz was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for them when they were all together. She had a jovial personality and loved to laugh, always joking, always laughing. She was known for having an especially tight bond with her boys.

In addition to her husband, Victor, Luz is survived by her children Victor Ivan Montanez (wife, Fabiany), Luis Angel Montanez (wife, Mia), and "Ricky" Ricardo Montanez (wife, Anacelys); her grandchildren, Tatiana Nikole, Jonah, Yacier, Ricky, Caleb, Noah, and Brianna Marie; her siblings Rosa Diaz, Angel Diaz Burgos, Domingo Diaz Burgos, and Dolores Diaz; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

A Viewing will take place at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. Services will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM. A private viewing for family will be held from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Committal will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
