Obituary

Lucille A. Davis, 97, a beloved resident of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 21st at Trillium Place. Her final moments were enveloped by the profound love of her family and the abiding faith that had steadfastly sustained her throughout a long and meaningful life.

Born Lucille Alansky on September 20th, 1928, in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest child of George and Anna Radauskas Alansky, Lithuanian immigrants who arrived in America during the major wave of immigration at the turn of the century.

Lucille was raised within a tight-knit family alongside her siblings-George, Anna Lobichusky (Victor), Joseph, Margaret Harris, Peter (Dorothy), and Maryanne Gothie (Joseph)-all of whom preceded her in death. She carried the deep sense of family and community learned in her early years into every facet of her existence. That enduring love of family became one of her defining qualities, a constant source of inspiration to those who knew her, and a cherished legacy passed down through the second, third, and fourth generations of the Alansky family.

Lucille graduated from Mahanoy City High School in 1946 and married the love of her life, Thomas (Hank) Davis, on July 4th, 1950. They shared 69 years of marriage before his passing from COVID in April 2020. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Marchelle Davis Bakken (William, MD); her grandson Nicholas Bakken (Whitney, MD); and her cherished great-grandson William Thomas Bakken.

Following her marriage, she and Hank relocated to Lancaster, where she began a distinguished 38-year career at RCA. Demonstrating exceptional aptitude, she rose to the position of Engineering Technician while concurrently pursuing advanced mathematics courses at Franklin & Marshall and Elizabethtown Colleges.

Lucille possessed an engineer's personality. She excelled in her full-time career, was known for her fantastic cooking, enjoyed entertaining in a spotless home, and had a system that made it all work. Above all, she was a tremendous Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Mother-in-Law and Friend.

She and Hank shared a passion for travel, journeying across most of the United States, Canada, and many European Countries, including two poignant trips to visit relatives in Lithuania before the fall of the USSR and one after they regained their independence. They also graciously hosted relatives from Lithuania several times, with Lucille acting as their dedicated tour guide and translator, remaining fluent in Lithuanian her entire life.

She was a longstanding and faithful parishioner at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, where she held a special devotion to the Rosary. It was understood by family and friends alike that if timely or special prayers were needed, Lucille was the one to offer them with unwavering faith.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alison Mercier of LGHP Geriatrics, Hospice and Community Care, the entire staff of Trillium Place on Eshleman Run, and the social workers at Trillium (Lindsay and Tiffany) for their exceptional kindness and loving medical care over the past few months. A special thank you is also offered to Rukiye, her special friend from the kitchen staff, whose kindness and friendship meant so much to Lucille.
