Louis B. Hutchinson Sr, 91, of Lancaster, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Oak Leaf Manor North, Lancaster.

Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of the late Dorothy (Wilkinson) Hutchinson, who died in December, 1996. He was the son of the late Louis J. Bittner and Josephine (Lowell) Hutchinson.

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved a good game of poker with his buddies. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Lancaster.

Louis was a proud Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the battleship USS Wisconsin from 1944 to 1946. He saw action in the Leyte Gulf, Luzon, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Tokyo Bay.

He was employed for 35 years in the composing room of the former Philadelphia Bulletin, and for 24 years as a clerk for John Herr Market.

Louis is survived by his children, Louis B. Hutchinson Jr and his wife Marcia of Lititz and Sue Walkowiak of Millersville; 4 grandchildren: Kevin Hutchinson, Michelle Hutchinson, Keri Shee, and Katy Gallo; and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Herbert Hutchinson; a sister, Joan Fitzpatrick; 2 brothers: David and Lowell "Boopy" Hutchinson; and a son-in-law, Ken Walkowiak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster with the Rev. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. Friends and family will be received at the church one hour prior to the mass. Military honors will follow the service at the church. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Valley Forge Gardens, 352 S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia.
