IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lisa Marie
Jurgensen
September 22, 2017
Lisa Marie Jurgensen, née Peters, devoted and loving wife of Marcus Jurgensen, devoted and loving mother of Matthew, Evan, and Maija Jurgensen, went to be with her Lord on Friday September 22, 2017. Lisa was born the daughter of Leo and Patricia Peters, May 11, 1973 in Reading, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from Oley Valley High School then attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and received her license as a Registered Nurse. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Kutztown University and a Master's Degree in Nursing and a Nurse Midwife's Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania. After working for several years at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital and Birth Care and Family Health Services, Lisa became a homemaker and homeschooled her three children for seven years. She herself was an ardent lover of learning throughout her life, and she instilled in her children that same love of learning and the habits of diligence and conscientiousness that bring it to fruition.
Lisa's love of her family and her commitment to education were second only to her love of God. She was a member of Community Fellowship Church, and her Faith was strong and unwavering. Lisa loved the natural world, saw in nature a reflection of the Creation and its wholeness, and sought to participate in that wholeness through wholesome living, wholesome thinking, and wholesome eating, so that she became a student, and an artist, of healthful dietary and culinary practices as one way of making the life of her home and family reflect the love of God for his creatures. Together with her children, Lisa was also a student of karate, and she earned a black belt in that art at the Bradley Karate Studio, where she became an instructor. She sought the truth earnestly, she fought fervently for the truth that she found, and she never gave up the fight for truth and right.
In addition to the out-of-doors, Lisa enjoyed traveling and seafood, and she made an exception to her interest in natural, holistic eating, in order to enjoy some sweets from time to time, especially Oreos.
Lisa fought a courageous and determined fight with cancer for ten months and spent her final days in the exceptional care of Hospice and Community Care of Mount Joy. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Marcus Jurgensen; her children, Matthew, Evan, and Maija Jurgensen, all still at home; her parents, Leo and Patricia Peters; an aunt, Christine Sassaman; a brother-in-law, Andy Jurgensen; a sister-in-law, Michelle Jurgensen; a nephew, Kyle Jurgensen; and mother-in-law, Barbara Jurgensen.
A memorial service will be held at 12PM on Saturday September 30, 2017 at the Community Fellowship Church, 200 Bethel Dr. Lancaster, Pa 17601. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10AM-12PM. The burial will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Lisa M. Jurgensen Memorial Educational Fund established through any Wells Fargo Bank.
