(Ranck) Schmalhofer
November 28, 2016
Linda Mary (Ranck) Schmalhofer, 73, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Monday, November 28, 2016 at Moravian Manor, Lititz, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lancaster, she was the wife of Gary F. Schmalhofer of Lancaster, and the daughter of the late Fred and Rosemary (Werner) Ranck. Linda was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster. She was employed by Schick Electric Company and Miesse Candies, and for 45 years was the business manager and co-owner, along with her husband, of Frank's Garage. Very stylish and an expert decorator, she was proud of the house she and her husband built at Prime Hook Beach in Delaware. Linda had a way of making those she met feel special by sending them cards and remembering special events. She was a self-taught financial planner, and she loved music, crafts, gardening, and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always very generous with her time and money. In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by her children: Theresa Coates Ellis and her husband George of Manassas, VA; Tim Schmalhofer and his wife Amy Garrety of Columbia; and Trisha Schmalhofer of Palm Bay, FL; 7 grandchildren: Chris Coates and his wife Laura Marie, Allison, Kathryn, and Laura Victoria Coates, and Christine, Natalie, and Jillian Ellis; 2 great-grandchildren: Colby and Jaxon; a sister, Lois Murse of Millersville; and a brother, Patrick Ranck and his wife Annie of Quarryville. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville with the Rev. John Schmalhofer officiating. Friends and family will be received from 12:30 to 2 prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions in Linda's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste E-201, Pittsburg, PA 15222.
