Obituary

Libia R. Mitchell, 90, of Lancaster and Country Meadows Retirement Community passed away on August 5, 2011 at Hospice of Essa Flory after a 14 month illness. She was born in Manizales, Colombia, South America on September 7, 1920 to the late Apolinar and Anna (Cogote) Restrepo.

On a vacation trip to the United States in 1960, Libia visited the Lancaster area and decided to stay. She promptly sought employment with St. Joseph Hospital where she was a phlebotomist until she retired in 1982.

She was married in 1966 to Jerry Mitchell who preceded her in death in 1979.

Libia's hobbies included gardening, knitting, and sewing. She especially enjoyed the company of the women in her Knitting and Purl group. Knitting and sewing for various organizations, including St. Anthony's bazaars, was also one of her great joys.

Libia was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

She is survived by a sister, Alicia Flores of Manizales, Colombia, and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA. A gathering will be held at the church from 10-11am.
