IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leona K.
Brewer
September 20, 2013
Leona K. Brewer, 87, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Moravian Manor. Born in Rothsville, PA, Leona was the daughter of the late Walter and Ada (Young) Krafft.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, A. Glen Brewer; two children: Lynn S., married to Tom Bowlus of Pemberville, OH and Brian G. Brewer, married to Tana M. of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren: Tyler Bowlus, Cullen Brewer, Jordan Brewer and Seth Brewer; a brother, Arnold Krafft, married to June of Denver, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edwin and George Krafft.
Leona grew up in Rothsville and Ephrata during the time of the Great Depression and World War II. Working at domestic and menial jobs, she developed an appreciation for hardship and an ability to live life without many amenities.
Leona had a great love for flowers and the outdoors, and developed an astute ability to grow perennials with daisies being one of her favorites. She was a great Dutch cook who spoiled the family with many favorites. She was also a staunch Republican and could be as stubborn and strong willed on politics as anybody from Washington.
Leona was a long time member of the Lititz Moravian Church where she served and was an integral part of the Quilters Group for many years. She also handled the graveside flowers for the Easter Dawn Service.
The family would also like to thank the staff and nurses at Moravian Manor Herrnhut Personal Care and Nursing for the incredible care and comfort our mother received the last five years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Moravian Manor Steinman Hall Chapel, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, PA 17543. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Moravian Manor Benevolence Fund, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, PA 17543 or to the Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, PA 17543.
