Lee N. Schmidt, 91, of New Providence, PA  passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Paul L. Schmidt, who passed away in 1973. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Howard V. and Amelia G. Kappes Ruth.

Lee had worked as a press operator for the JL Clark Co. of Lancaster from 1956 to 1982. Prior to this, she had worked for the Reese Padlock Co.

She had been a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Strantz of New Providence; her 2 grandchildren: Terry L. married to Thomas Schelling of Willow Street and Tammy L. married to Dwayne Whitehead of Lititz; and by her 2 great grandchildren Lyndsey Y. Whitehead and James L. Whitehead. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Victor and Charles Ruth, and her sisters, Mildred Charles and Myrle Fraunfelter.

Friends will be received on Friday from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, with the funeral service to follow at 11AM, the Rev. Joseph Hilbert officiating.
