Larry A. Owens, 73, of Mountville, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of Cynthia Cox Owens, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage this past November 9th. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Arvel and Ethel Yenser Owens. Larry retired after 25 years with the Digital Equipment Corporation as a Field Service Technician. Larry then retired after 20 years with Franklin & Marshall College where he worked as a System Manager and Network Engineer. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was an avid railroad fan, enjoyed biking on the rail trails with his family and loved his time with his dogs. Larry served as a videographer for Hempfield High School football and Franklin & Marshall football programs. Very active in his community, Larry coached baseball at every level through the Legion leagues in the Mount Joy, Hempfield, and Mountville communities. In addition to his wife, Cynthia, he is survived by his sons: Stephen M. married to Susan Owens of Millersville, Jeffrey T. married to Patrice Owens living in Omaha, NE, and Daniel P. married to Jayme Oberholtzer of Mount Gretna, PA; his nine grandchildren: Karissa and Drew, Garrett, Nathan, Alysse and Kenny, Jonas, Sidney, and Scarlett; as well as his siblings: Patrick, Barry, Eileen, Stacy, and Sharon. There will be a celebration of Larry's life held at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 3PM. His family will receive friends from 2-3PM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Larry's memory to the Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue (https://magsr.org/) or the Reading Company Technical and Historical Society (http://www.readingrailroad.org).
