L. Ruth "Ruthie" McManus, 71, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 11, 2012 following complications from surgery.  She was the loving wife of Richard P. McManus for 28 years.

A member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, she was an avid gardener and golf fan. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles as well as collect bells and angels. Earlier in life, Ruthie served 12 years as Justice of the Peace for Sadsbury Twp.  Later she worked in the insurance business with Audrey Insurance of Gap and retired from Engle, Hambright and Davies of Lancaster.

In addition to her husband, she will be lovingly missed by her daughters Melanie, wife of Doug Kreiser, Melissa, wife of the late John Bare, Michele, wife of Tim Quigley, and Beth Schliefer , as well as 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren whom she adored. She is survived by her siblings, Betty Jo, Harold, Jesse, Donald and Sue.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 10-11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later time privately with the family.
