Kenneth W. Major, Jr, 68, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Hospice Of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.

He was the husband of Judith A. Driendl Major, with whom he celebrated their 46 ^th wedding anniversary this past April 4 ^th . Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Kenneth W. and Edna Nixdorf Major.

Ken had worked as the Program Manager for the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2002. Previous to this, he had worked for the RCA Corporation.

A United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he had served as a Lance Corporal, serving both in Vietnam and in Newfoundland. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 294, where he was active in their Toys For Tots campaign.

Ken was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also was an active volunteer for the Lancaster Catholic High School Carnival, and had coached midget football for St. Anne's, St. Joseph's, and the Crusaders fro many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Scott D. married to Margaret Major of Lancaster, his daughter Debra M. married to Dr Eric Lipton of Virginia Beach, VA, and his 6 grandchildren: Brianna, Lauren, Skyler, Kayla, Simone, and Monique.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 10-11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM, the Msgr Thomas Smith as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
