"Dick" Kendrick

Kenneth R. "Dick" Kendrick, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was born in Dubuque, IA to the late Frank T. and Martha Ehrlich Kendrick. Dick was married to Leann L. Hesseling Kendrick for 56 years last June.
A graduate of Loras Academy in Dubuque, he worked as an assistant plant manager of Flexsteel Industries before retiring after 47 years. Dick served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a very active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and on Parrish Council. Dick was a 43 year member and 10 year trustee of Lancaster Liederkranz, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #867 and American Legion Post 945.
Surviving in addition to his wife Leann are 3 children: Michael K. Kendrick, companion of James Arroyo of New Britain, Richard J. Kendrick, husband of Beth of Lancaster, and Karen M., wife of Dennis Mahoney of Willow Street; 6 grandchildren: Laura, Kelsey, Elysha, Olivia, Katie and Molly; 2 great-grandchildren; Shawn and Destiny; and 2 sisters Jean Weiland and Rita, wife of Vern Hittenmiller, both of Iowa. Dick was preceded in death by his siblings Francis and Donald Kendrick, Bernice Richardson, Marcella Digmen, Marion Neuwohner and Gail Spautz.
The Funeral will be held 11 AM Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, with The Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel officiating. A viewing will take place Monday 9:15-10:15 AM, followed by the Knights of Columbus Service at 10:15 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. Interment with Military Honors in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the Alzheimer's Association, S. Central Pa Chapter, 3544 N.
