Obituary

Kempton Barnes "Skip" Browning, 81 of Brethren Village, Lititz, PA, passed away, Monday, September 05, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Skip was the son of the late Dr. William J. and Rebecca (Barnes) Browning. He was the loving husband, of 52 years, to the late Elizabeth "Tibby" (Long) Browning who passed away in 2008.

He graduated from Merchantville (N.J.) H.S. in 1952 and from Colgate University in 1956.

He retired in 1995, after working 38 years for the RCA Corp. and successor companies, the last 20 years at the Lancaster, PA location. There he had contract management responsibility for equipment and technology transfer projects in Poland, the former Soviet Union, China and Hong Kong. He was a Junior Achievement advisor and taught courses in effective writing and quality control.

Skip was a past member and served as president of the Niagra Volunteer Fire Company #6 of Merchantville, N. J. and was an active member of the Lancaster Lodge #134 of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks and the RCA Retirees Group. Skip was a Masters swimmer, an avid golfer and reader and enjoyed genealogy, travel, surf fishing and solving cryptogram puzzles. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being master of ceremonies at family gatherings. Skip was of the Christian faith and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three sons and their spouses, Garret L., husband of Deborah, James W., and Scott L., husband of Valery Browning. 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a sister Audrey B. Haig of Moorestown, N.J. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Long Browning, he is preceded in death by a brother Dr. William J. Browning III of Story, WY.

Memorial Services for Skip will be held at 10AM, Friday, September 9, 2016, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9-10AM. Interment will take place at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ.
