Kathleen M. Baldwin, 89, of Lancaster, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Homestead Village. She was born on March 29, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Paul E. and Josephine C. (Hahn) Steinbaecher. She grew up in the Cabbage Hill area of the city.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Baldwin in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, R. Vaughn LeFever in 2002.
Kathleen was a resident of Homestead Village and was proud in assisting the addition of Catholic Masses at the retirement community. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and the Friendship Club.
Kathleen graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1943. She retired after many years from Watt & Shand Department Store as an office secretary.
Kathleen loved watching the Philadelphia Phillies and she and her husband would travel to Clearwater, FL to watch them in Spring training. Her hobbies included crocheting, playing pinochle with family and friends at Homestead, traveling, listening to big band music, and her dogs. The greatest treasure she had was the love for her grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by two children; a son, Vaughn Paul LeFever, husband of Joan E. (Shank) of Lancaster, a daughter, Stephanie, wife of John Greineder, of Washington Boro, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Maryanne Brockie Martin, wife of Miles Martin, of Lancaster, Ruth, wife of Paul Wiker, of Lancaster, Paula, wife of Leon Haefner, of Lancaster, and a brother Gerald Steinbaecher, husband of Mildred, of Lampeter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 12noon at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 2427 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601. A viewing will be held from 11am-12noon at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Kathleen's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Clare House 342 E. Chestnut St. Lancaster, PA 17602.
