Karen Ann Dickman, 74, of Mountville, passed away after a short battle with cancer at Hospice and Community Care surrounded by friends and family. Born in New Orleans, LA to Dr. George L. Fletcher and Gladys (Youngblood) Fletcher she was the wife of Robert Dickman, with whom she spent 46 wonderful years. Karen was an employee of Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Facility for over 37 years in the Activity Department. She took wonderful care of the residents there and always said that the residents were a part of her family. She was also a member of Women of Shaarai. Karen had a very outgoing personality and hugged and kissed everyone that she met. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her hometown of New Orleans where she loved the people, food, culture, museums, and the French Quarter. She also liked spending time at the Jersey Shore and going on cruises. She cherished any time that she could spend with her family and friends, whom she cared for dearly. She also doted on her cats; Boobie, Shadow, and Kobe. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Barshinger Cancer Center and at Hospice and Community Care. Karen is survived by her beloved husband Robert Dickman; her son, Jason Dickman and his companion Tina Herr of Lancaster; her siblings, George Fletcher and his wife Barbara and Sharon Fletcher all of Houston, TX; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Diane Leslie of York County; and her nieces, Nicole and Samantha of York County. She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. George Fletcher and Gladys Fletcher. Services will be held Thursday July 5, 2018 at 11:00AM at Temple Shaarai Shomayim located at 75 E James St, Lancaster, PA 17602. Guests will be received by the family prior to the service starting at 10:00AM. Interment at Shaarai Shomayim Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Karen's name to American Cancer Society at 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603, Hospice and Community Care at 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, or Humane League of Lancaster County at 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
