IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julie A.
Hersh
September 13, 2025
Julie A. Hersh, 84, of Refton, passed away peacefully and without pain on Saturday, September 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Julie was the first New Year's baby born in Lancaster in 1941. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Suie Mowrer. She was the wife of Landis Hersh, with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Graduating from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 1960, Julie spent many years working as a Title Searcher for Burks Title Company as well as the Lancaster County Courthouse. Over the years she worked for Graybill Brothers, H.C. Rineer Sons, and G. R. Mitchell, Inc. until her retirement. Julie was an active member of the Refton Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary for several decades, and in recent years volunteered at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute and the Lancaster General Hospital. Julie will be lovingly remembered for her resilience, zest for life, and adventurous spirit. She was always eager to try new experiences without fear such as sky diving at age 70, hot air ballooning at 83 and a helicopter ride at age 79. Julie loved to sing and was a member of the choir as an original member of the Lampeter United Methodist Church and Willow Street Baptist church. She was an exceptional cook and baker who made a tradition every Christmas to bake cookies for family, friends, neighbors, and local businesses.
She is survived by her husband, Landis Hersh, her son Keith (Jan Sedway), grandchildren Zachary and Jordan Hersh, and her daughter Michelle (Robert) Witmer. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Marilyn Long and Milton Long.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Refton Fire Company and the multitude of other first responders for their immediate and professional care, and to the 6 Lime team at LGH ICU for treating Julie and her family with the utmost dignity, professionalism, and respect.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Julie's name to the Refton Fire Company at 99 Church Street, Refton, PA 17568.
