Julia Hess, 57, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on February 17, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Margaret Heist & the late Richard C. Miller, Sr. Julia was the wife of Michael Hess with whom she celebrated 28 years of marriage. Julia was a care assistant med tech for Brethren Village. She loved taking care of the residents. She would "do for others before she did for herself". Julia loved to garden, including vegetables & flowers; and adored any kind of animal. Surviving in addition to her husband, Mike, is a daughter: Nicole Ann Newman, wife of Steve; her mother, Margaret Heist; 5 siblings: Penny Bender, wife of Bob, Brian Heist, husband of Lori, Terry Heist, Rick Miller and Ron Etsweiler; and many nieces & nephews. Julia was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ron Heist & Tommy Heist. A Funeral Service will take place at 4 PM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A viewing will take place prior to the service from 2:30-4 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
