IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juan Carlos
Torres Jr.
February 20, 2002 – June 9, 2020
Juan Carlos Torres, Jr., 18, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Juan was the son of the late Juan Carlos Torres, Sr., and Alba Rosa Mason and the step-son of Darren Carnell Mason. Juan started life with many medical obstacles which he faced with determination and perseverance, and at the age of four, he was the recipient of a double lung transplant, which improved his life greatly.
Juan thrived in many special ways and touched the lives of everyone who came in contact with him. They were immediately drawn to his charismatic personality, smile and love of life. Despite his physical limitations, life was always an adventure for Juan and he loved to take every opportunity to participate in programs that were offered to him. He participated in Special Olympics; attended Heart & Lung Camp in Maryland; visited Disney; and enjoyed going to beach and being in the water. He was an avid Eagles Football fan, and especially loved music, comedy and watching WWF wrestling. He had a major fashion fetish, and was always insisting on trying the latest hair styles and clothing trends. He was proud to be a member of the graduating Class of 2020 of Manheim Township High School, and was loved by all of his classmates and teachers throughout his high school years.
In addition to his mother and step-father, Juan is survived by his brother, Zion Negron. Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Carmen Rodriguez, maternal step-grandfather Raphael Rosario, aunts Alexandria Torres and Roseanne Martinez; and his very special best friend, Destiny.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful health care professionals who cared for Juan throughout his life's journey, especially those at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ, and Children's Specialized Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
A Celebration of Juan's Life will be planned and announced for a later date.
