IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juan Alberto
Almonte
July 12, 2023
Juan Alberto Almonte, 80, of Lancaster and formerly of New York City—Inwood, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023. Beautifully and poetically, he passed on the same day of his birth as was befitting a man with a life well-lived.
Born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Francisco and Marcela Almonte. He was married for over 55 years to his beloved wife, Amarilis Ramirez Almonte. Juan graduated from high school in DR and then received a vocational degree. He worked tirelessly in the tool and die manufacturing business, and was self-employed in both PR and DR. His family remembers him as extremely hardworking, a great provider and father, generous, selfless, and always willing to lend a hand where he could. He valued the importance of education and instilled that into his children. Importantly, he was a devout Catholic and was dedicated to his church. Juan enjoyed taking walks in his neighborhood and spending time with his cherished family.
In addition to his wife, Amarilis, Juan is survived by 3 children: Rev. Father Antonio Almonte, a priest in the Archdiocese of New York, Albertina Almonte, and Miguelina Dalton (spouse Michael); 5 grandchildren: Kris and Angela Cipollone, Liam, Elena, and Lucas Dalton; 2 great-grandchildren: Isaiah Cipollone and Gabrianna Marrero serendipitously born on the same day as her great grandfather. Additionally, he is also survived by siblings: Angela Matos, Rosa, Carmen, Rafael, and Ramon Almonte. He was predeceased by his siblings Andres, Argentino, Emma, Marisol, and Zenith Almonte.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Juan's life on 7/19/23 at 7:30 pm at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Juan's name can be made to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church located at 91 Arden Street, New York, NY 10040.
