IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce E.
Herr
September 4, 2010
Joyce E. Herr, 58, of Lititz, PA left this world to spend eternity with her Creator God on September 4 th , 2010 after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. She was lovingly cared for at home by family and friends during the last few weeks of her life.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dr. Dwight A. Herr, of Lititz. They were happily married for 37 years, and have two wonderful daughters: Angela, wife of Ed Murphy, of Lititz with their two children, Noelle and Eliza; and Pamela, wife of Joey Rogers, of Richmond, VA with their son, Josiah. Joyce is also survived by her parents, J. Dale and Erma Landis of Lititz, as well as four sisters and one brother: Jean Yordy of MI, Josie Swartzentruber of OH, Jackie Sands of WA, Janice Martin of Womelsdorf, PA, and J. Dale Landis, Jr. of Mountville, PA.
After growing up on a farm across from Landis Homes, Joyce lived most of her married life in Muncy, PA and later, in Wellsboro, PA, before God finally called Joyce and Dwight into full-time mission work. They served with SEND, International in Central Siberia, where they helped to plant a church for Russians and Buryats. Their time there was cut short by Joyce's cancer, and for the past five years they have lived in Lititz and attended Calvary Church.
Joyce will be remembered for her bubbly, friendly nature. Her laughter and infectious optimism warmed the hearts of those who knew her. Joyce's hospitality and acceptance of others were a reflection of God's love and grace.
Joyce adored her three grandchildren. She loved sharing life and Jesus with others, especially children and youth. She also enjoyed planting and nurturing her flowers, and sharing them with others. God richly blessed Joyce's family with her life.
Because of Joyce's faithfulness and dependence on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we believe God is smiling at her now, saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joyce's Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Calvary Church 1051 Landis Valley Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601 at 1:30pm with The Rev. Gordon Gregory officiating. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6-9pm at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pk. Lititz, PA 17543 and again from 12noon-1:30pm at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to: "SEND, International," P.O. Box 513, Farmington, MI 48332, with a note directing the gift to Salvation Church in Ulan Ude, Siberia.
