Josephine E. Roschel, 93, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Lancashire Hall. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Evelma (Irwin) Pitz. She was married to Earl J. Roschel, Sr. with whom she celebrated 74 years of marriage in June.

She worked in the marking room at the former Watt & Shand Department store retiring in 1983 after 10 years of service and spent the rest of her time as a homemaker raising her family. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, bus trips, and as a young adult enjoyed swimming, bowling and softball.

Josephine was longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lancaster.

She is survived by her son, Earl J. "Skip" Roschel, Jr., husband of Sandra, of Pequea, and six grandchildren: Kristen L. Spatafora (Pietro), Kimberly K. Mause (Erik), Sherry L. DeGrace (Dan), Kelly Young, John F. Broughman, Tai Martz; 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and dear friend, Geraldine Roschel. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne M. Martz.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends will be received from 10-11AM at the funeral home on Monday. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park Mausoleum.
