Josephine Jakob, 89, of Lancaster, PA passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Mennonite Home. She was the loving wife of Joseph Jakob with whom she was married for 62 years. Born in Hilgartsberg, Germany she was a daughter of the late Josef and Anna (Dick) Feilmeier. Josephine worked as a laborer with Schick for 14 years prior to her retirement and was a very devout Catholic and member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and Lancaster Leiderkrantz. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, was a talented cook, and very committed to her family and was a prayer warrior. Josephine loved to travel back to Germany to see her family and also traveled to many places in the United States with her husband Joseph. She will be missed by her family, friends and neighbors and all those whose lives were impacted by her love and devotion. In addition to her husband Joseph, she is survived by her daughter Anita J. wife of Paul C. Swisher of Mountville, PA; one grandson Paul J. Swisher husband of Kim of Columbia, PA and a great-grandson Jacob Robert Swisher; one sister El Frieda Bauer of Germany. Josephine was preceded in death by her four brothers Hans, Joe, George and Max Feilmeier and six sisters Teresa Aman, Amalie Macht, Maria Stadler, Annie Lindl, Frieda Feilmeier and Finnie Unfried. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10AM from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602 with Fr. Deogratias Rwegasira as Celebrant. Interment will be held in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening from 6-8PM from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602 with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:45PM at the funeral home. An additional viewing will be held on Monday from 9-10AM at the Church prior to her Funeral Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Water Street Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 7267, Lancaster, PA 17604 in her memory. The family welcomes those who wish to send flowers in her memory as well.
