Joseph M. Rumberger, 88, of Lancaster passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Conestoga View after a brief illness. Born in Shamokin, PA he was the son of the late John J. and Rita (Dugan) Rumberger. He was married to Mary Ann (Darrenkamp) Rumberger for over 24 years. He worked at the former Hamilton Watch Co. as an inspector for 17 years and later worked in quality control for the Dept. of Defense for over 10 years, retiring in 1993. Joe enjoyed reading, watching TV, dancing, constructing model airplanes, doing paint by numbers and especially going out to breakfast with his brother, John. Joe proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph D. Rumberger, husband of Sherree of Lancaster; two daughters, Nina M. Rumberger, companion of Timothy Bragg of Lancaster, Lisa A. Rumberger spouse of Carolyn Johnson of Manheim, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother, John E. Rumberger of Marietta. Also surviving are three step-daughters, Janice Makauskas wife of Theodore of Willow Street, Kathy Speitel wife of C. Paul, III, of Lancaster, Susan Tome wife of Sean of York; step-son, James Bridge husband of Sonia of Willow Street, nine step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and host of loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Amato and a sister, Joan Burns. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St, Lancaster, PA 17603. Friends will be received one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory may be made to the church at the above address.
