IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph G.
Rudy
September 3, 2016
Joseph G. Rudy, 71, of Conestoga, PA, passed away on September 3, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Alicia (Flick) Rudy. Joe was the loving husband of Janet (Hilbert) Rudy and together they celebrated 44 years of marriage. Joe was a 1963 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. He retired from PP&L as a Journeyman Lineman in 2005 with 38 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends, and cherished his annual spring fishing trip to Chappaquiddick Island off Martha's Vineyard with his brother, Jake and his wife, Rose. Many laughs and stories were shared with his buddies, Bill, Charlie and Harvey, while fishing on their trips to Delaware. He loved to write about the details of each and every fishing and hunting trip as evidenced by the volumes of pages he wrote over the years. Reading his stories made you feel as though you were right there experiencing some of his favorite times. Joe enjoyed going to high school girls' basketball games, especially LCHS, with his friend, Larry. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by 3 siblings, Patricia A. Eichelberger, wife of John; Paul E. Rudy, husband of Rose, and Marie E. Black, wife of Donald of St. Charles, Missouri; 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alicia (Rudy) Ritter. Joe will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Father Allan Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's New Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Red Rose Veteran Honor Guard & Vet 21 Salute Team. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund at the above address, or Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
