Joseph A. Padula, 91, of Lititz, went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Louis and Antonietta Costa Padula. Joseph was a devoted and loving husband to Shirley Roberts Padula, with whom he shared fifty-three years of marriage. He was a Navy veteran who served in WWII on the USS Triangulum and took part in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Using his GI Bill, he attended Rutgers University where he earned a degree in industrial engineering. He loved and adored his family and enjoyed nature with his plentiful vegetable gardens and was a wonderful cook and baker. He was extremely funny and well-liked. He will be sorely missed and his memory cherished forever. Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, JoAnn M. Nolt, wife of Frank, of Lititz; Sharon M. Padula of Raleigh, NC; Kimberley M. Zeigler, wife of Steve, of Mount Laurel, NJ; Karen J. Schmidt, wife of Dave, of Sewell, NJ; and one son, Joseph Padula, husband to Anne McCauley, of Ojai, CA; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Anthony & Louis Padula. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 2:30PM with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
