Obituary

Joseph  R. Lo Galbo, 83, of Lancaster, died on July 25, 2007 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Catherina ( La Scala). He was the husband of Theresa (Smith) Lo Galbo.

Mr. Lo Galbo was employed for 30 years with Sears, where he worked in  Sales before retiring. Joseph was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge in Ephrata where he was Exalted Ruler for two terms, Veterans of Foreign  Wars. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S.Army Air Corps, receiving the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Air Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, and the Good Conduct Medal.

One of his citations for the award of an Air Medal reads, in part, "For meritorious achievement while participating in Bombers combat operations over Germany, the courage and skill displayed reflects great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States." He flew forty five missions over Germany. He was a member of St. Philips the Apostle Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters: Jolyne Barnett of Lancaster, Jilann Trainor of Akron, and Claudia wife of Michael Witmer of Lancaster; three grandsons, Brian Joseph Trainer, Brandon P. Trainor, Nicholas D. Witmer; one grand daughter, Megan McNicholas wife of Ryan; Two great grandchildren, Maddon and Maille McNicholas; and one sister Teresa Triola of California. He was preceded in death by two brothers Vincent and Samuel Lo Galbo and one sister Josephene Fiorenza.
