Johnny Irizarry, 63, of Mountville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Manhattan, NY, Johnny was the son of the late Pedro and Julia (Poupart) Irizarry and was the loving husband of Iris (Santos) Irizarry. Johnny served in the Marines during the Vietnam War era. After being honorably discharged, he went on to work for the New York City Housing Authority as a Boiler Technician and eventually worked his way up to a position as a Landscape Supervisor until his retirement. In 2002, he moved to Puerto Rico, but returned in 2006 and settled in the Lancaster area. Johnny had a special love for painting and sketching, especially for his grandchildren, he enjoyed auto mechanics and gardening. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lancaster. In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by 3 daughters: Nora Pellegrino, wife of Arthur, of New Jersey, Deborah Nazario, wife of William, of Mountville, and Julia Irizarry, wife of Dominick Rodriguez, of Arizona; 11 grandchildren: Johnny, Maxine, Lucas, Antonio, Sonya, Dimitri, Anthony, Nicholas, William, Hermydi, and Iridium; and a great-granddaughter, Miranda. He is also survived by 3 siblings: Victor Irizarry, Mildred Medina, and Evelyn Guzman; 19 nieces and nephews; and 45 great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends are invited to attend a viewing for Johnny on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 6-8PM, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10AM, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 South Prince Street, Lancaster PA 17603, with the Rev. Leo M. Goodman, III as Celebrant. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior. Interment will take place at 11AM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Johnny's name may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 1500 Paxton St. Harrisburg, PA 17104.
