John K. Walters of Lancaster, formerly of Johnstown, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the age of 89 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late William and Eunice (Davis) Walters. John was the loving husband of Mildred T. Walters for 66 years and father of Richard. John served in World War II in the United States Navy. He retired from Suburban Publishers of Exeter where he served as President. John was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lancaster. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, hunting, fishing and also coached CV Midget Football, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and attending church. John will be remembered for his never-ending kindness, love and joy he brought to all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife, Mildred Walters of Lancaster; his son Richard J., husband of Marilyn of Lititz; his two grandchildren: Amy, wife of John Sauder of Lititz and Ricky of New York, and his great-granddaughter Avery. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Samuel husband of Bertha; William, Jr.; and Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, February 17 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 501 East Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 with the Rev. Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant and the Rev. Daniel P. O'Brien as Con-Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday, February 16 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:30.
