Obituary

John E. Tannehill, 78, died on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Willow Valley. Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, John was the son of the late Francis and Cecelia (Cooper) Tannehill. John was the husband of Inta (Muiznieks) Tannehill, to whom he was married for 52 years. John earned his Bachelor's degree at Swarthmore College and went on to Earn 2 Master of Arts degrees at Berkley and Princeton Universities. John was a Political Science professor at Millersville University. John did extensive research and documentation on the Blacksmith tools made in Lancaster County. He was known as "the professor with the camera" at auctions. He was an antique dealer, avid tool collector, historian, and genealogist. In addition to his wife, Inta, John is survived by his son, James Tannehill, of Lancaster; grandson, Ryan Tannehill; brothers: Robert Tannehill, husband of Barbara Tull, of Delaware, OH and Bruce Tannehill, husband of Gail Cleveland, of Whitefish, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Service for John will be held at 2PM, Friday, June 30, 2017 at Willow Valley Lakes Auditorium, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in John's memory be made to the Early American Industry Association, PO Box 524, Hebron, MD 21830-0524, or any other historical societies.
