John "Jack" Sourber, 90, of Lancaster went to Heaven on November 27th, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care. Originally from Pottsville, PA, Jack was the son of the late Earl Jacob Sourber and the late Miriam Brown Sourber. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Renee. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Paul Sourber, and two sisters, G. Elizabeth Sourber and Miriam G. Newton. Jack is survived by two sons; Greg and Scott of Lancaster, one daughter in-law; Mary, four grandsons; Benjamin, David Brian, Mark, and two great grandchildren; Isabella and Miles. Jack was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at Federal Mogul as a machinist for 38 years. Upon retirement in 1990, he got another job taking care of his grandsons. Jack was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville High School where he was a standout football player, and as such is a member of the Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania All Sports Hall of Fame for football, a sport he dearly loved. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. Jack was a simple man who knew the most important parts of life were his family and friends who he loved dearly. Attending his grandsons sporting events from youth thru high school and college brought him great joy and pride. A celebration of life service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Rd. Lancaster, PA www.highlandpc.org on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 11am. Family will receive guests at the conclusion of the service.
