John C. Resch, Sr., 91, of Lancaster, passed away, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Hamilton Arms Center, Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, John was the son of the late Raymond C. and Mabel (Huzzard) Resch. He was the loving husband of Evelyn A. (Martin) Resch, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. John proudly served in the US Army during World War II, in the European theater, under the command of General George S. Patton. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to work for Armstrong Worldwide Industries as a mechanic, retiring in 1990, after 47 years. Of the Christian Faith, John was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He was a member of various organizations: Lafayette Fire Police for 20 years; Lancaster County Shrine Club; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 35, Columbia; Lamberton Masonic Lodge, #476; Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Temple, and Tall Cedars. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, John is survived by his children: John C. Resch, Jr., husband of Sandra, of Lancaster; Karen A. Grimaldi, wife of Salvatore, of East Petersburg; and James M. Resch, husband of Beverly, of East Petersburg. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 siblings: George S. Resch, of Lancaster and Mabel E. Snyder, wife of J. Robert Snyder, of Washington Boro; and a sister-in-law, Nora Resch, of Lancaster. He is preceded in death by his brothers Harry, Norman, Edward, and Raymond Resch, and Harold Weber. Memorial Services for John will be held at 2PM, Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, with Pastor Mark Russell officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1-2PM. Interment will follow at Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601.
