John J. Poehner, 50, of West Earl Township, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Ellamae Simmers Poehner. John was married to Catherine E. Whitcomb Poehner for 19 years.

He graduated from Hempfield High School in 1982 and worked as a pressman in the printing industry for 30 years and then as a truck driver for Tyson Foods.

John was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church. He coached little league baseball and midget football when his son Cole played. A big sports fan, he cheered for the Steelers and Phillies. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the family property in Sabinsville, Tioga County. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America in Schaefferstown, where he helped disabled veterans enjoy fishing.

John's family includes his loving wife Catherine and their children Cole P., Skylar M. and Faith E. Poehner, all at home. Also surviving are his brother Charles E. Poehner, Jr, husband of Tina, Elizabethtown, and sisters Barbara Groff, wife of Herb, Bird-In-Hand, and Lisa Poehner, Lititz; sisters-in-law Heather Harrison, wife of Joel, Ephrata, and Jamie Pietsch, wife of Doug, Maytown; mother-in-law Beverly Chambers, wife of Henry, Lancaster; nieces and nephews Corri, Cristy, Codie, Casey and Cayla, Kelli, Christina, Amanda and Nick and Clay, Lila, Ben and Allyson, and 18 great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Lititz U.M. Church, 201 Market St., Lititz, PA 17543, with Rev. Steven W. Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends 1-2 PM on Saturday at the church. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the "John J.
