John P. Muckenthaler, 76, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John and Marie Eder Muckenthaler and step son of the late Viktoria Bernauer Muckenthaler. He was married to Betty M. Walton Muckenthaler for thirty-three years.
For thirty years he was a set-up man in the Grinding Dept. at Federal Mogul. He retired in 1987. Previously, he worked at Hamilton Watch for seven years.
A member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, he was an avid professional baseball and college football fan. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and playing cards.
During the 1940's he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Vicki married to Nathaniel Blevins of Exton; Karen Muckenthaler of Lititz; step sons, Kenneth Long of York; Jere married to Dawn Long of Lancaster, David Long of York; two grandchildren, Olivia and Kyle Blevins; 10 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Husson of Shiremanstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA on Thursday at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Friends may attend the viewing at the church on Thursday from 10-10:50AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
