John G. McLain, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Lancaster on Saturday, May 17, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late John McLain Jr. and Marion (Graff) McLain. He was also the devoted husband to Glenna (Eisenberger) McLain for over 39 years.
After graduating high school, John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in 1966. He was also a tool and die maker at Woodstream prior to his retirement. Outside of work, John was an avid fly fisherman and surf fisherman. He was on the board for the Codorus Creek Fly Fishing Committee, and a guide for Feathered Hook Fly Fishing. In addition, he loved to cultivate bonsai trees and spend time with his labrador dogs.
John is survived by his wife Glenna; children Heather (Albert) Lynch, Melissa Kelley, Misty (Denny) Keen, Jehramie (Rebecca) McLain, and Mark Sharpe; and siblings Victoria (Bob) Miller and Philip (Paula) McLain. He is preceded in death by his brother Bryan McLain.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lancaster Cancer Center, 703 Lampeter Rd, Lancaster, PA 17602.
