John M. Maris Sr., 80, born on December 15, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey to the late James and Ruth Maris of Glen Ridge, NJ. He was the younger of two brothers.

Mr. Maris enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from Newark Academy, Livingston, N.J. in 1947. He went on to study  Mechanical Engineering and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1952 from Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania. He became Vice President of the family business, J.B. Maris Company. In 1984 Mr. Maris became President of Maris Grinding and Lapping Company in New Jersey.

Mr. Maris is survived by seven of his eight children from his first  marriage. He is also survived by his wife, Gundi Maris, and three step children. Also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel Inc. 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, 560-5100 on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2PM. Friends may be received from 1PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Witness Park Cemetery.
