John Lisinski, 71, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Hershey Medical Center.
He was the husband of Georgianna L. Brown Lisinski, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage this past November 26 th . Born in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Stephen and Helen Baranowski Lisinski.
John had worked 31 years as an avionics technician at the 436/512 Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE until his retirement in 1995. He had also served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1 st class from 1962 to1966 in the 4 th Tactical Fighter Squadron during the Vietnam War. He had also served in the Air Force Reserves for 12 years in the 512 th MAW.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, where he was a 3 rd degree Knight with the church's Knights of Columbus Council 10827. John also had membership to: The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 203, Camden-Wyoming, DE; Dover Elks Lodge 1903, Dover, DE; Lower Northumberland County Motor Club; American Federation of Government Employees; and The American Legion.
John enjoyed fishing with his grandson, cultivating a variety of vegetables in the garden, collecting coins and spending time with family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer M. married to Thomas S. Buch of Lititz; his grandson Zachary; and his brother, Florian P. Lisinski of Middletown, DE. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Alfred, and Eugene.
Friends will be received on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 6-7PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends will be received again on Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, PA 17543 from 10:30-11AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM, the Rev James O'Blaney as Celebrant. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be at 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in John's memory to the Ephrata Cancer Center (Ephrata Hospital) 460 N. Reading Rd., Ephrata, PA 17522, St. James Catholic Church at the above address, or the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
