John "Jack" Lewis Diem, 79, of Gordonville was welcomed into Heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 10, 2015. He was born in Honey Brook, PA on August 18, 1935 to the late Marcus and Anna Diem. After 38 years of service, he retired from Lancaster Malleable Castings in 1997. His hobbies included making crafts, cooking, watching the Phillies and NASCAR, tending to his garden and flowerbeds, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, and attending church at Worship Center in Leola. He will be remembered for his kindness and generous hospitality to all that entered his home. He is survived by two daughter's: Darlene wife of Elam Petersheim of Bird In Hand, and Jackie wife of Harry Harsh of Gordonville; four grandchildren: Butch Himelright married to Kathy of Quarryville, Anita Southam married to Kevin of Gordonville, Steve Lapp of Gordonville, Dana Gettler married to Troy of Ephrata; five great grandchildren: Dalton Southam, Kaitlyn & Kendall Himelright, Blaine & Larissa Gettler; plus many more loving family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Catherine Diem, of whom he shared 56 years of marriage, two sisters, two brothers, one grandson, and one granddaughter. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lancaster General Hospital for their excellent care and kindness. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life service for John at Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
