John F. Kane, 77, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, John was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Mary (Strausser) Kane. John was a 1957 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. After high school, John went to work for Armstrong World Industries where after over 30 years he retired as a Senior Research Technician in the R & D department. During his time in R & D at Armstrong, John won several U.S. patents in the electrical lighting field. John was of the Catholic Faith and after retirement enjoyed spending his time antiquing and going to auctions. He was a real tech "junkie" who loved working on computers. John is survived by his three children: Richard Kane, husband of Jennifer, of Lititz; Matthew Kane, husband of Megan, of Mechanicsburg; and Nancy Mason, wife of Steven, of Lititz; four grandchildren: Allison, Patrick, Hailey, and Natalie; and his brother, James M. Kane, of Drexel Hill. Funeral Services for John will be held at 11AM, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 to 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
