Obituary

John G. "Jack" Hufnagel, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his Lancaster, PA Willow Valley residence, following wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with family.

He was the husband of Maxine Beebe Hufnagel.  They celebrated 56 years of marriage this past June 30 th .  Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late John G. Sr. and Helen Brannin Hufnagel.

After attending the McDonogh School in Baltimore and Brown University in Providence, RI, Jack worked for GE in Lynn, MA and then 39 years at PECO Energy in Philadelphia where he finished his career as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1990.

He was a faithful Catholic, in recent years belonging to St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.

A US Navy veteran, he served as an Ensign in the Pacific Theater.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially the summer beach vacations.  Also, he enjoyed golfing and eating out, and was quite well known as a life-long tennis player.  Jack and his family spent many happy years in Drexel Hill, PA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: John G. Jr married to Madonna Hufnagel of Lancaster, Suzanne married to Warren Newberry of Lititz, Joan married to Jack Campbell of Saline, MI, Karen married to Dan Holder of Blue Bell, PA, and Amy married to Bill Fritsch of Exton, PA; his 18 grandchildren and his brother-in-law, Harry Baugher of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Baugher.

Friends will be received on Friday January 11 from 1:30 PM at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA  17603, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:30 PM, the Rev Joseph Farrell, OSA as Celebrant.  Interment will be private in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, we would welcome contributions in Jack's memory to St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church at the above address.
