John H. "Jack" Hiemenz, III, of Lancaster and formerly of Ocean City, MD died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy following a brief illness.
Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Josephine "Jo" Hiemenz of Lancaster, and the son of the late John H., Jr and Mary W. (Bennawit) Hiemenz.
Jack and his wife lived in Ocean City for 16 years before returning to Lancaster in 2002. In Ocean City, he was the owner and operator of Maxi Services, a property management company that he managed for 16 years. He was also the Vice President of Sons of Italy, and a member of the Ocean City Counsel of Knights of Columbus #9053.
Upon moving back to Lancaster, Jack and his wife joined St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Millersville, and he became a member of Knights of Columbus #867, Lancaster. He then decided to come out of retirement and drive a bus part-time for Schultz Transportation for 12 years until his second retirement in 2014.
Jack was a 1958 graduate of LCHS and went on to attend Elizabethtown College. In his earlier years, he coached St. Anne's Midget Football Team and the Manheim Township Little League. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Penn State Football fan. He and his wife Jo shared a love of travel and cruise ships.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by two sons: Eric M. and his wife Leasa Dunham-Hiemenz of Treasure Island, FL and Mark L. Hiemenz and his fiancee Dawn Hodge of Ocean City, MD; 2 brothers: Dr. Donald Hiemenz of Stroudsburg and Terrence Hiemenz of Grand Island, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
